Home from the KW Knitter’s Fair 2015

I usually bring cash only to the fair, so that I can’t spend more than a fixed amount.  I did not take that precaution this year, and here is the guilty result….

A couple skeins of Georgian Bay Fibres “Bayfield Bulky”.  I bought these to make a colourwork jacket, to use up the rest of my one-of-a-kind “Sage” colourway, in the same base.  Buy 3 skeins to use up 2?  That works… right? 😉

A skein of Purl Diving merino laceweight.  This one’s for my mom, because she missed the fair:(  This is Katherine Matthews new yarn, and the colours are spectacular!

2 skeins of Zen Yarn Garden cashmere, from Grey Heron Yarns.  This is about to become a soft, warm, reversible hat.  Design to come.

A sweater quantity of this Mineville Wool Project Aran yarn, from Linda’s Craftique.  I bought some Mineville Wool Project at last year’s fair and knit it up within the year.  I wear that sweater all the time, so that was enough incentive for me to buy more.

My personal favourite acquisition of the day is…. Yarn Indulgences sport weight BFL in a smokey blue-grey.  This one is next on the To-design list.  Watch for the sweater to come!

And hey! I just noticed that all this yarn is Canadian dyed!

Special thanks to the ladies at Grey Heron Yarns for displaying my Havelock pattern.  I had a great day with them, and hope to see everyone again soon:)

Right here is a gratuitous shot of my spoils of the fair….silk, hand-woven scarf included.  More on that, at a later date.

  1. Loved meeting you. It was our pleasure to showcase your Havelock sweater. What a beauty.
Hopefully you find a reason to visit us in Collingwood.
Is apple picking considered an adventure tour? It’s fall in Georgian Bay and the apples are plentiful.
Your next sweater design looks lovely. Looking forward to seeing the finished one.

  2. Ugh! Now I’m upset! Last year didn’t seem to have any nice solids, it was all variegated. You got such gorgeous yarns and the shot of the stall looks amazing!

Well, there’s always next year. Can’t wait to see your colour work jacket!

Hey Jessie!! Great to hear from you! Yes there were a lot of good solids this year:) I’ll be sure to post regular gratuitous pics when that Colourwork jacket gets going.

  4. I love that mug with the GBFC! Did you get that there too? Oh… And I suppose all that amazing yarn is cool too 😉
